Довольно давно, когда посты на lookatme люди еще читали, я написал о группе людей именующих себя La Blogotheque. Они снимали живые концерты не на фестивалях или в клубах, а прямо на улице. 
Но это не главное, а главное, что они сняли группу Wild Beasts, которая прогуливается и поет песни на улицах города. И в общем мне нравится группа, мне нравится когда люди поют в городе и мне нравится, что к ним никто не подходит и не просит сыграть "Демобилизацию"

Teebs - Ardour ( 9 / 10 )

Последнее время много думал о том, почему жанры исчезают. Артисты начинают повторять сами себя и все развитие внутри жанра становится похожим на два зеркала, установленных друг напротив друга. Так произошло с пост роком, трип хопом, гаражем и даже поп панком. Но всегда есть исполнители, которые выделяются и не теряются даже когда кажется, что жанр вымер. Я очень любил абстрактный хип-хоп и IDM, когда они были, как мне кажется, в зените своего развития. А потом все стало повторяться и ощущения от этой музыки перестали быть чем-то особенным. И вот, где-то 5 лет спустя, я наткнулся на диск, который погрузил меня в забытое невесомое состояние - Teebs - Ardour. 
Есть музыка, которая не навязывает свое настроение. Она не рассказывает как все плохо у ее исполнителя или как все плохо в мире. Она не рассказывает о победах или поражениях, о страхе или смерти, о радости или любви, и я бы даже сказал, что  уверенности в том, что она рассказывает что-нибудь о нашей планете, нет совершенно. Эта музыка занята сама собой, сочетая синтезированные звуки в поиске идеальной красоты.

Чистая эстетика, где только названия треков вроде «Король Ванна» (King Bathtub) или «Вся моя жизнь» (Whole my life) напоминают о ее земном происхождении.  Чем-то она даже фоновая, но в то же время, слишком хитро устроена, чтобы казаться примитивной или скучной. Такая музыка иногда встречалась на сборниках вроде Cafe del Mar или Saint Etienne в завалах земных аудио красот, но чаще она пряталась на каких-то альбомах Four Tet (Tortoise, Jaga Jazzist, Hint, Bonobo etc).   Погружение в блестяще-журчащую музыку происходит с первого трека и это ощутимо добавляет насыщенности окружающим краскам, даже если вокруг вас краски зимней Москвы. На альбоме сложно выделить песни, музыкальные сооружения треков плавно перетекают друг в друга без резких перепадов, как водопад ударов, мягкого шума, брызг красок, звона машин, шелеста лент и шороха движения. При этом все это происходит где-то очень далеко от млечного пути. 

В  общем, это один из лучших дисков с абстрактной электронной музыкой, который я слышал за последнее время. Я пропустил его в 2010, но рад, что встретился с ним в конце 2011, поэтому и отдаю этому диску девять из десяти моих space invader’ов. Ж-)

There is music, which does not impose its mood on you. It does not tell you that everything is bad for the artist or in the world. It does not talk about victory or defeat, fear or death, joy or love, and I would say that in fact it says almost nothing about our planet. The music is occupied by itself as a combination of synthesized sounds in search of ideal beauty. Pure aesthetics, where only the track names like “King Bathtub” or "My whole life” remind us of it’s earthly origin. Music has some features of levator tunes, but at the same time, too artfully arranged to appear primitive or boring. This music is sometimes met on compilations like Cafe del Mar or Saint Etienne in the debris of terrestrial audio beauty, but more often it is hiding on some albums from Four Tet (Tortoise, Jaga Jazzist, Hint, Bonobo etc). 

Dive into brilliantly rustling music adds saturation to surrounding colors, even if you are surrounded by the colors of winter in Moscow. On this album it is difficult to identify songs, music track installations smoothly pour into one another without abrupt changes and they are like waterfall strikes, soft noise, spray paints, ping machines, tapes and a rustle of movement. And all this is happening somewhere very far away from our galaxy.

In general, it is one of the best albums with abstract electronic music, which I've heard lately. I missed it in 2010, but glad to have met it in the end of 2011.  This disc will receive nine space invaders out of my ten.

Hope for men

Hello guys!

Today we launch a new weekly column called "Hope for men". It will be about mannish tunes and lyrics and music with an Adam’s apple if you know what I mean.

Okay, first things first. The column is called after the second LP of one of my favorite bands Pissed Jeans, so let's talk about this album.

On the cover we see two men embracing each other. No homo, even considering the fact that they are both half-naked. This is just a great illustration of a men-to-men relationship, the kind of relationship that guys don’t show in front of women. It’s all about friendship, understanding and care.

The music might sound too noisy (It’s noise-punk after all), but if you can dig through that wall of annoying sound, you will find a lot of tenderness and beauty. Basically this music is a metaphor for men, who seem scruffy and rude on the outside, but are tender and cozy on the inside. Girls, you can learn a lot from this.

Well, I just like it. A lot)

I like the artwork, i like synths, i like the blues in Sova's voice, i like their facebook page.

I really like that they are trying to keep a little bit of sunshine in the times that aren't really so bright in Moscow and in Russia. I cannot say that the album is one of the best that I've heard in my life. But I can say for sure that it is a well built pop album with nice catchy tunes where blues mixes with funk and drives you to some calm places inside your own head with it's tropical flavours. Definitely give it a try!

Peter Gabriel - III (Melt) (9/10)

At first the album seemed to me overproduced and synthetical. Too much sounds, side walks, tempo changes. But now I understand that it's a "grower". I divide this album in two parts because of the song Start. I put songs "Intruder", "No Self Control" and "Start" in one part and the songs after Start in the other.

If you'll hear the album for the first time you will definitely remeber "Games without Frontiers" which is a haunting and a beautiful song with Kate Bush back vocals, synthetic drums and a lot of background electronic stuff going on. It tells about the meaningless wars people start. Childish and stupid.

Next time you'll hear the album you'll catch yourself on the thought that you remember all the songs. You remember the kick ass drums by Phil Collins and the xylophone solo in the "Intruder", wind instruments and repetition of I don't know how to stop phrase in "No Self Control", and then goes this "Start" sounding like it is from some japanese role playing game for super nintendo after which bad guys from previous songs are left behind. After "Start" we get to know other people described in the songs. First one has has an amnesia in the song "I don't remember", then we get acquianted with a painfully ambitious guy in "Family Snapshot", then a man lost in the wires in "Through the wire", then a line-up of well known people from the past in "Games without frontiers".

And here we are listening to "Not One of Us". "You talk like we do, you look we do, but you know how it is... You're not one of us". And you may think do you really want to be one of us? Intruders with no self control palying games without frontiers just becuase their ambitions and a search for self-esteem tells'em to do so. Intruders who forget everything in a few years. Want it or no, but if you are reading this you are one of us. Will you be able to lead a normal life?

"Lead a normal life" is a next song with a beatiful xylophone. It gives time for anyone to think about the fact that behaviour matters, control matters, good will and passion and love matters.

But it turns out that it is still a prison or an asylum where you do not get a knife.

The album ends up with a song about Steve Biko an african activist which died in prison. And the eyes of the world are watching. Human is a desire to be a human. I think that this album is interesting both musically and lyrically. And I do think that some of the songs will make it to your best of list. I give up 9 polaroid shots from my cartridge for 10 for this one.

I finished reading "Hi Fi" by Nick Hornby which is all about the broken heart and the music about the broken heart and so on.. Few days after I decided to listen to the "best new music" as based on Pitchfork review and it was Girls new album... Which is about broken hearts, love and happiness and i just felt that i am having too much of this fall in fall out love thing. Maybe I am not that needy and lonely now. Maybe I was just overwhelmed by the amounts of self pity and pieces of broken hearts in the Hornby's book but anyway I will give only 7 from 10 pieces of my broken heart for this album. BUT WHY!!?!..

Because:

I like some hooks in the lyrics as the one in How Can I Say I Love Yo: "How can I say I love you, Now that you've said I love you? And how can I say I need you, Now that you've said I need you? And how can I say I want you, Now that you've said I want you, Now that you've said Everything I said to you To somebody new"

and the "bony body" from Honey Bunny... and Forgiveness.. And I like the eclecticism and electricity of the music, back vocals, fragile voice of Christopher Owens.. but it still makes me sad.. especially some songs. And I do not like it. I just do not want to be sad and feel the pieces of my broken heart inside and end up writing up 5 most terrible histories after which i used glue to get myself back to normal state... or something like that. I just do not want it. I just can't be happy and listen to this album simultaneously. So.

It sure is a nice sad album with some hope in it though.

But there are four songs that I still cannot get out of my mind (it's still got 7 pieces of my heart, you know):

И как я могу сказать, что я хочу тебя, Теперь, когда вы сказали, что я хочу тебя, Теперь, когда вы сказали все, что я сказал Вам, кому-то другому"
и костлявое тело из Honey Bunny и... Прощение .. И мне нравится эклектика и электроэнергия музыки, бэк-вокал, хрупкий голос Кристофера Оуэнса .. Но это все делает меня грустным .. Особенно некоторые песни. И мне это не нравится. Я просто не хочу грустить и чувствовать куски моего разбитого сердце внутри и в конечном итоге написать 5 самых стремных историй, когда мне пришлось склеивать себя из руин, чтобы вернуть себе обратно нормальное состояние ... или что-то вроде этого. Я просто не хочу. Я просто не могу быть счастливым и одновременно слушать этот альбом. Вот Так.
Это хороший грустный альбом со светом надежды, тем не менее.

И на этом альбом есть четыре песни, которые я до сих пор не могу выбросить из своей головы (все-таки он получил 8 кусков моего разбитого сердца..)

Yo La Tengo - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out (10/10)

Well. I have been in love with this album ever since I heard it for the first time. I just never forget it. It stays in my memories. It feels so blue and tender as getting asleep in your childhood bed. Light and sad but not depressive. You just feel that your hopes that everything could be so different and better are not just a play of your imagination. You can have it all even in the last days of disco. The album is full with this crystal clear sadness that will be a part of human history forever, but I think that it makes us all a little bit more sensitive and better anyway so we should not turn away.

Our way to fall. Our way to fall in love with humanity and our world. I highly recommend the album because it is one of the best examples of how lightheaded sadness of a man in love turn into the music that will last.

Fool's Gold - Leave No Trace (8/10)

Fool's Gold are mixing african sunshine and the northern song structures on their new album. The results are danceable and joyful. Their original songs revive the memories of etno-influenced music from Talking Heads or Peter Gabriel.

I am sure that I will be returning to their songs during grey winter days in Moscow.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Hysterical ( 4 / 10 )

Новый диск Clap Your Hands Say Yeah звучит вроде бы неплохо, но так, словно все песни на этом альбоме - это кавер версии песен других групп. Siesta (For Snake), например, это песня Radiohead времен The Bends. Хотя в общем-то добрая половина песен так звучат.
Уж не знаю почему, но не зацепило почти ничего. По моей оценке это 4 из 10 за диск.

Почему-то мне кажется, что следующий их диск, если он выйдет, должен быть хорошим.
